MVA real id

MARYLAND โ€“ Starting May 7, 2025, Maryland residents aged 18 and older will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or another TSA-approved form of identification to board domestic flights or access certain federal facilities. A REAL ID-compliant license features a star in the upper-right corner. If your Maryland license lacks this star, you’ll need to upgrade by visiting an MDOT MVA branch in person with the required documents. These include proof of identity, Social Security number, and two proofs of Maryland residency. Appointments can be scheduled through the MDOT MVA website. โ€‹

Maryland has been proactive in achieving compliance, with 99% of eligible residents already possessing REAL IDs. However, if you haven’t updated your license yet, it’s advisable to do so promptly to avoid potential travel disruptions.โ€‹

For more information and to check your REAL ID status, visit the MDOT MVA REAL ID page.
