Annapolis, MD – The Coast Guard assisted five mariners after their boat began taking on water near the mouth of the Severn River in Annapolis Thursday, May 18.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Maryland-National Capital Region received a report from a mariner aboard the 43-foot vessel stating it was taking on water.
Sector Maryland-NCR issued an urgent marine information broadcast and launched a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Annapolis. Coast Guard Cutter Lawrence Lawson also launched a boatcrew on a cutter boat to assist.
Once on scene, the 45-foot RB-M crew assisted the mariners with dewatering efforts with a portable dewatering pump.
The vessel was safely escorted to Back Creek Marina.
No injuries were reported.
