BEL AIR, Md. — A small earthquake was recorded in Harford County late Monday morning, according to seismic data from the U.S. Geological Survey and the Maryland Geological Survey.
The 2.4-magnitude earthquake was recorded at 11:02 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2026, near Bel Air North in Harford County.
The Maryland Geological Survey listed the epicenter about 8 kilometers northeast of Bel Air North. The U.S. Geological Survey placed the quake at 39.617N, 76.310W, with a depth of about 5 kilometers.
There were reports of the earthquake being felt in Harford County and as far south as Baltimore County. No damage or injuries were immediately reported.
Small earthquakes are not unusual in the Mid-Atlantic, though many are too weak to cause damage. The U.S. Geological Survey encourages anyone who felt shaking to submit a “Did You Feel It?” report to help scientists map how widely the earthquake was noticed.
The earthquake was among the recent seismic events listed Monday by the Maryland Geological Survey, which tracks earthquakes in and around the state.
