James L. Holt Jr.

Leonardtown, MD – A Mechanicsville man who entered a guilty plea to a charge of first-degree assault in connection with a robbery that occurred last December is tentatively scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 9 in St. Maryโ€™s County Circuit Court. The defendant, James L. Holt Jr., 19 was indicted on six counts this past February. The indictment counts were armed robbery, robbery, first-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit first-degree burglary, first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault. The conspiracy charges are misdemeanors while the other four counts are felonies.

The indictment alleges Holt broke into a womanโ€™s California home Dec. 4 and committed the crimes. According to the St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office, Holt was arrested on outstanding warrants related to the incident Jan. 9.ย 

Holt is being represented by Thomas and Jason Axley. St. Maryโ€™s County Assistant Stateโ€™s Attorney Julie M. White is handling the prosecution. Holtโ€™s guilty plea was entered July 6 before Judge Michael Stamm. A pre-sentence investigation was ordered. The PSI was completed and received in late August. Holt was scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 6 but the hearing was delayed.
