Leonardtown, MDโOn April 1, St. Maryโs County Sheriffโs Office Deputy Steven Kerby responded to the St. Maryโs County Detention Center, for the report of contraband.
While searching the suspect, who was identified as Ryan Michael Page, 30, of Lexington Park, Sgt. Hartz, an employee of the St. Mary’s County Detention Center, discovered a piece of cellophane wrapping, suspected Suboxone, in the slit in the tongue of Pageโs left shoe.
Hartz also found, โa piece of aluminum foil in a slit in the tongue of the defendantโs left shoe and saw it contained a white powder,โ according to charging documents.
Page then struck Hartz’s hands and grabbed the piece of aluminum foil and the Suboxone. Page pushed Hartzโs left wrist into the wooden shelf causing it to bruise. Page put the Suboxone and the aluminum foil containing the โwhite powder into his mouth and ingested most of it,โ according to charging documents.
Page has been charged with second-degree assault on a DOC Employee and two counts of possession of contraband in a place of confinement.
At this time, Page does not have a scheduled court date. Page faces a maximum jail sentence of 16 years and/or a maximum fine of $4,500.
