The Triad/SALT Council (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together) and the St. Mary’s County Department of Emergency Services and Technology are teaming up to offer county seniors a VIP tour of the St. Mary’s County Emergency Communications Center (911 call center) on Thursday, November 13. Lunch will be served at noon at the Garvey Senior Activity Center followed by a presentation and tour of the call center.
Lunch is available for $6.00 for those under 60 and by donation for all others. When registering please specify if you will attend lunch. Lunch will include stuffed shells with meat sauce, garlic bread, roasted cauliflower, whole wheat roll, Jell-O and fruit cocktail.
A representative from the Emergency Communications Department (911 call center) will give guests an inside look on what happens when a call comes into the 911 center, how to prepare for an emergency and other valuable information which could save you or a loved one’s life!
The Department of Emergency Services and Technology is a multifaceted agency that provides 911 call taking and dispatching through the Emergency Communications Division disaster preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery through the Emergency Management Division.
The Division of Emergency Communications is responsible for the daily operations of the 911 call center. Their 24-7 operations provide emergency and routine communications for Fire, EMS, Sheriff, MSP and many other critical county services. Communications Dispatchers in the Emergency Communications Division receive emergency 911 calls and dispatch the appropriate departments or agencies.
