La Plata, MD— Small Business Saturday occurred this past weekend. La Plata was one of many different towns to participate in this annual event. The streets were filled with patrons looking for a unique gift from the multitude of small businesses.

Patrons also had the opportunity to listen to the homegrown band The Sam Grow Band, who played on the lawn of the Farrell Building.

Also showcased during this Small Business Saturday event was the La Plata Polar Express, which was located on Kent Avenue. The first 300 children who made their way to the La Plata Polar Express received a bell that rings for all those that believe.

“Thank you to all of the shoppers for coming to the special event on Small Business Saturday and your support of independently owned and operated businesses in our charming small town,” said Christine Parker, who is town’s event coordinator and a member of the La Plata Business Association.
