SOLOMONS, Md. — A Mechanicsville woman was cited for DUI and multiple traffic violations after a rollover crash on the Thomas Johnson Bridge Sunday night sent one person to a trauma center and shut down traffic between Calvert and St. Mary’s counties for hours.

Cassidy Chance Goddard, 26, of Mechanicsville, was charged by the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol, driving while so far impaired by drugs and alcohol that she could not drive safely, reckless driving, negligent driving, failure to obey a traffic control device, failure to control speed to avoid a collision, and failure to drive right of center, according to court records.

Emergency crews responding shortly after 8 p.m. found three heavily damaged vehicles and an overturned SUV blocking portions of the bridge following the collision.

The crash temporarily shut down the Thomas Johnson Bridge while firefighters, EMS personnel, and law enforcement worked to treat patients, investigate the crash, and clear debris from the roadway.

Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 7 transported one adult patient to Capital Region Medical Center for treatment. Several additional occupants were evaluated at the scene, with at least two signing care refusal forms after assessment by EMS personnel.

Deputies administered field sobriety tests at the scene before placing Goddard under arrest, according to court records and emergency communications.

Court records show Goddard was released after posting a $2,500 unsecured personal bond. A trial is scheduled for June 12, 2026, in Calvert District Court.

If convicted on the most serious charges, Goddard could face jail time, fines, license penalties, and additional sanctions under Maryland law.
