UPDATE Monday, July 11

La Plata, MD – Charles County Sheriff’s detectives have identified the man who was found deceased in a vehicle at the Wawa in White Plains  Thursday, July 7 as Timothy Akers, 47, of White Plains.

On July 7 at 1:52 p.m., officers responded to the Wawa at 4210 Crain Highway in White Plains for the report of an unconscious male in a car. The vehicle was locked and the engine was running. Entry was gained, and first responders initiated CPR; however, the man was deceased. There were no obvious signs of foul play nor any signs of illegal substances.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore performed an autopsy. Autopsy results are pending, and the investigation is continuing.


UPDATE FROM THE CHARLES COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE, Friday, July 8

White Plains, MD – On July 7 at 1:52 p.m., officers responded to the Wawa at 4210 Crain Highway in White Plains for the report of an unconscious male in a car. The vehicle was locked and the engine was running.

Entry was gained and first responders initiated cardio pulmonary resuscitation.(CPR). However, the man, 47 from White Plains, was deceased. There were no obvious signs of foul play nor any signs of illegal substances.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Detective J. Elliott is investigating. 

The man’s name has not been released at this time.


White Plains, MD – At 4:15 p.m. the Charles County Sheriff’s Office confirmed it was conducting death investigation at Wawa in White Plains. An adult male was found deceased in a car. Police are reporting no signs of foul play at this time.

Charles County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Diane Richardson told The BayNet police received a call regarding an unresponsive man inside a motor vehicle at the convenience store’s gasoline pumps. Richardson said all the doors were locked deputies had to break windows to gain access to the inside of the vehicle. The vehicle’s motor was running. An autopsy is pending.
