Dfc. Michael Licausi of the St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office, who is currently assigned as a Staff Instructor at the Southern Maryland Criminal Justice Academy was named the 2011 S.M.C.J.A. Instructor of the Year award at the Maryland Police and Corrections Training Commission Instructor’s Conference.

Dfc. Licausi began his career with the St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office in 1997 as a Correctional Officer. ย Dfc. Licausi served in that capacity for 10 years. ย In 2007 he left the corrections profession to become a St. Maryโ€™s Deputy Sheriff. ย Dfc. Licausi transferred to S.M.C.J.A. as an instructor in 2010. ย Dfc. Licausi is a member of the St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office Emergency Service Team and has been selected the Training
Class Coordinator for the Police Entry Level Training Program which will begin on January 14, 2012. ย
