Dirt Bike Rider Airlifted After Serious Crash At Budds Creek Motocross Park; GoFundMe Created

MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — A dirt bike rider in the Loretta Lynn’s Area Qualifier was seriously injured following a crash at Budds Creek Motocross Park on March 17, 2024.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:00 p.m. on the track at 27969 Budds Creek Road. A male rider was reportedly suffering from spinal injuries and possible sensory loss.

He was evaluated on the scene and a MEDEVAC was requested. A landing zone was established in a nearby field for Maryland State Police, Trooper 2.

Trooper 2 then airlifted the patient to an area trauma center for further treatment.

The family of the rider has released a statement and created a GoFundMe to assist him during this difficult time:

“Hi my name is Shannon. Many of you know my son Tyler Myers and his father Michael Myers from the race community. Today March 17, 2024 there was a tragic accident and as a result Tyler’s father was life flighted to a hospital three hours away. As of right now we know it’s three major injuries are an injury to his spinal column. C1 and C2, a damaged carotid artery, and a brain bleed. Additional injuries he has a broken pelvis, broken ribs, and a broken scapula. They have him in an induced coma. I have created the GoFundMe to help financially. My son Tyler will not leave his father side. As such his working will be limited and so will the income coming in and he will need assistance for his hotel rooms, gas, and food. In addition anything extra will go towards his bills and any income that has lost so they both can pay their bills and survive. Anything is appreciated especially prayers.”

  1. His name is Mike Meyers.
    He’s a “vet” rider..40+.
    He resides in New Jersey.
Let’s keep him a this family in our prayers.

    1. health insurance can have extremely high deductibles. with no options. and if your out of network , then may only pay 50%- and who is paying the monthly instilments on insurance while one is in critical and one is at hospital or caring for kids. etc. –

      1. One should plan for necessities before spending to play what can be a dangerous activity. That’s all.

  2. He has medical insurance..good insurance. However he and his children and wife being from NJ and Florida have to stay in hotels to be at his bedside. Let alone a 40-60 dollar a day parking fee in Baltimore. His head had nothing stabilizing it.c1/c2 connects your skull to your spine . Every tendon in his neck was torn. His artery as well were not. He had nothing holding his head onto his spine. He cannot talk and may not ever, cannot walk, cannot move.. Do you have any idea how expensive medical is? He will be hospitalized for months.. Then in rehab for months. He will never work again. Do you have any clue what disability pays these days? Not even for a mortgage. Lucky if it will cover even a car payment.. Have you nothing better to do the comment like this rather then say a prayer for him and his family?

  3. Praying for you Mike, as well as the whole warehouse in mays. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
