James Cornell Barnes Jr., 31, of Leonardtown, was arrested at 9:25 a.m. Sept. 30, during a traffic stop for speeding by TFC L. Nims on Route 5 at Route 242, in Oraville.

Upon contact with Barnes, and odor of marijuana was detected, police say. A probable cause search was conducted and located in the map pocket of the passenger seat was a bag of marijuana.

Barnes was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia He was taken to the detention center and held pending a bond review.

Cecilia Ann Marshall, 44 of California, was arrested on Sept. 19 for allegedly shoplifting from a California business by Deputy Robert A. Russell.

Police say a search incident to the arrest revealed marijuana and a related smoking device.

Additional charged for possession of the controlled dangerous substances were placed onย  Marshall. The amount of the theft was more than $56.

John Richard Elliott, 54 of Broomes Island, was arrested for cocaine possession Sept. 7, by Trooper Chirichella during a traffic stop on Broomes Island Road for a suspended tag.

Assisted at the scene by Deputy Gregory, a K-9 scan alerted on the vehicle to containing controlled dangerous substances.

A search was conducted and a CDS smoking device containing suspected cocaine residue was recovered.

After processing, Elliott was transported to the CCDC to await a commissionerโ€™s hearing.
