Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Y. Bortchevsky responded on June 4 to the 8800 block of Chesapeake Avenue in North Beach for the report of a wanted subject evading apprehension.
Bortchevsky observed the subject run behind St. Anthony’s Church and jump the fence. He exited his vehicle and told the subject to stop but he did not so a short foot pursuit ensued. Bortchevsky apprehended the subject on D Street in Chesapeake Beach.
Russell Robert Bowen, 22 of Dunkirk, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana in sufficient quantity to indicate an intent to distribute and possession of a schedule II drug; cocaine, in sufficient quantity to indicate an intent to distribute. Bowen and another man had been observed in what appeared to be a suspected drug transaction just prior to the foot chase.
Charges are pending against the other individual.
