The week-long Early Voting period began Thursday at 10 a.m. in polling places around Maryland, including two in Charles and one each in Calvert and St. Mary’s.
Instead of a Field of Dreams for candidates, the polling places became fields of election signs around the four polling places.

While the early voting means more opportunities for voters, it also means more work for the candidates and parties who feel obligated to have either themselves or their representatives on hand to greet those entering the polling places and also have literature available.

Polling places in Southern Maryland are: election office in La Plata at 201 East Charles St., Gleneagles Neighborhood Center at 4900 Kirkcaddy Ct. in Waldorf, the election office in Prince Frederick at 30 Duke Street, and the Potomac Building in Leonardtown at 23115 Leonard Hall Drive.

The polling places are open for early voting each day from 10 a.m. to 8 a.m. though Thursday October 30. General election day is Tuesday November 4.

To present the voters of Southern Maryland the opportunity to make the most informed choice this election, we’ve conducted a series of interviews with all local candidates who would agree to sit with us.

These videos give you an opportunity to hear each candidate as they express their views and plans for the various issues in a one-on-one interview setting.
