Temple Hills, MD – On Thursday, Aug. 24, two separate Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) raids took place in Temple Hills ย and Fort Washington. The raids by the FBI were a culmination of at least a two-year investigation into twelve individuals suspected of bank and wire fraud in the Mid-Atlantic region.ย
In the indictment of the twelve individuals; obtained from the FBI by TheBayNet.com; the complainant for the FBI, Patrick J. May, SA lays out the case for the indictment.
Over the period laid out in the indictment, multiple text messages and phone calls were intercepted by the FBI, which described the details of the crimes committed. The suspects were using stolen credit cards to buy cartons of cigarettes, and also paying off vendors to let them buy them. At certain times, the vendors were manually entering the creditย card numbers as one of the suspects was receiving them from another suspect on the phone.ย
Through the indictment, it was learned the suspects had used at least one black-market Internet site to “facilitate the sale and distributionย of stolen credit card data.”ย
During the raids Thursday, it was observed that the FBI had removed numerous pieces of plywood, rugs, and several boxes sealed with red tape. Theย American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was on the scene and at least three dogs were taken from the home. The FBI would not confirm or deny that “dogfighting” was involved in the investigation.ย
The indictment for the individuals lists the charge as “Conspiracy to commit bank fraud and wire fraud”;ย 18 U.S. Code ยง 1349.

Ashley Phillip Carrillo Howell, aka James Powell and
Eugene Orlando Cuffee, aka Gene.
The FBI has confirmed at least one person has been taken into custody.
