LEONARDTOWN, Md. — A Lexington Park man was charged with felony drug distribution after detectives executing a search warrant at a Leonardtown liquor store reported finding individually packaged crack cocaine, cash and packaging materials.
Colin Dion Cutchember, 48, of Lexington Park, was charged with distribution of a narcotic controlled dangerous substance and possession of a controlled dangerous substance other than cannabis.
The charges stem from an investigation conducted by detectives assigned to the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Vice/Narcotics Unit and Criminal Investigations Division.
Charging documents state detectives obtained a search and seizure warrant for Cutchember and his DNA. The warrant was signed June 30 by Judge Amy Lorenzini.
At approximately 2:14 p.m. July 3, detectives saw Cutchember driving a red 2004 Ford F-250 and parking near a fuel pump at Third Base Liquors in the 28000 block of Point Lookout Road.
As officers entered the property with emergency lights activated, a detective reported seeing Cutchember standing outside the driver’s door between the truck and fuel pump. Cutchember allegedly looked toward the officers, leaned down with his left shoulder and appeared to discard something.
He was taken into custody without further incident.
A police K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the truck and alerted to the vehicle and a trash can beside it, charging documents state.
Investigators reported recovering:
- A tied plastic bag containing several individually packaged quantities of suspected crack cocaine from the trash can
- Two individually packaged quantities of suspected crack cocaine from the passenger seat
- An open box of plastic sandwich bags from the center console
- $590 in cash from the glove compartment
- A cellphone from the center console
The suspected crack cocaine recovered from the trash can had a gross weight of approximately 5.5 grams, court records show.
Investigators reported that the individually packaged drugs, additional plastic bags and cash were consistent with distribution.
After being advised of his rights, Cutchember allegedly admitted owning the two packages found inside the truck but denied owning the larger amount recovered from the trash can.
Charging documents also state Cutchember was on supervised probation following a 2023 conviction for possession with intent to distribute narcotics.
Cutchember was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center and ordered held without bond. Judge James Tanavage continued that status during a July 6 bond review.
A preliminary hearing is set for July 30, 2026, in St. Mary’s County District Court.
