Nanjemoy, MD – A single-story wood framed house in Nanjemoy suffered moderate damage following a fire Thursday, Dec. 11 at 12:48 a.m., according to the Maryland State Fire Marshall

The occupant Robert Boyd discovered the fire on the back deck of the home located at 10260 Adams Willett Road, Nanjemoy.

Forty volunteer firefighters from Nanjemoy, Marbury, Indian Head, Potomac Heights, La Plata, Bryans Road and Bel Alton controlled the fire in approximately five minutes.

Deputy Fire Marshal John Nelson said the cause of the fire, which caused an estimated $35,000 in damage, is still under investigation.

The fire caused moderate damage to the exterior of the home. The occupant was displaced and did not require assistance.
