BRYANS ROAD, Md. — Food Lion associates delivered a surprise “Carts of Kindness” donation Monday, May 4, 2026, at J.C. Parks Elementary School, recognizing educators and supporting students during Teacher Appreciation Week.
During the visit, local Food Lion associates delivered a Food Lion To Go cart filled with snacks and drinks for teachers, staff and students. Educators also received Pantry Pack meal kits featuring Food Lion brand ingredients paired with recipe cards, along with personalized thank-you notes, coupons and gift cards.
“At Food Lion, we’re proud to have a strong, ongoing partnership with J.C. Parks Elementary School and to stay closely connected with their team throughout the year,” said Timothy Oglesbee, local store manager for Food Lion. “Teacher Appreciation Week is a meaningful opportunity for us to recognize the incredible dedication of educators while also helping provide support for students and their families. When students see the care and commitment around them, it helps shape stronger, more connected communities.”
“We more than appreciate the recognition – our teachers at J.C. Parks Elementary School are selfless and care about each and every student,” said Hughes G. Valmond, principal of J.C. Parks Elementary School. “They are the best at what they do, and this means so much to them.”
The Bryans Road delivery is one of six “Carts of Kindness” events taking place throughout the week across Food Lion’s 10-state operating area. In total, the company is also supporting more than 170 schools with similar appreciation efforts, as store managers and associates visit local campuses to thank educators and staff.
The initiative reflects Food Lion’s broader commitment to nourishing its neighbors and strengthening the communities it serves.
