
BRYANS ROAD, Md. — A late-night garage fire displaced one resident and caused an estimated $250,000 in damage to a two-story single-family home in Bryans Road, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Firefighters were dispatched shortly after 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, to the 6700 block of McCormick Drive after multiple callers reported a fire in a garage. Officials said the fire was discovered by a neighbor, who alerted the homeowner and helped prompt a safe escape from the residence.
The Bryans Road Volunteer Fire Department was the primary responding agency, assisted by surrounding departments. A total of approximately 45 firefighters responded to the single-alarm fire, which originated in the interior of the garage.
The smoke alarms and a fire alarm system were present and activated. Crews brought the fire under control in about 25 minutes. No injuries were reported.
The blaze caused an estimated $200,000 in structural damage and $50,000 in damage to the contents of the home. The homeowner was displaced as a result of the fire.
