Shortly after noon this afternoon a police and Hazmat teams responded to Rt. 4 and 235 for a gas leak.
Sections of both roads were closed to traffic for several hours, and several residents of a nearby trailer park were evacuated to the California WaWa. The WaWa gas station was able to remain open as meter readings indicated the area was safe. Two ambulances were on stand-by at the scene.
Witnesses said the leaking gas was visible on the scene.
At 1:29 p.m. the gas leak was secured and repairs began.
At 1:52 p.m. Police reported an accident and collision involving two vehicles south-bound on Rt. 235 at the junction with Rt. 4. There were no injuries.
Update: At about 2:10 p.m. no through traffic was being allowed along Rt. 4 at the 235 intersection, but 235 reopened.
