Henry Southern Bowling Jr.

Henry Southern Bowling, Jr. passed away on January 10, 2025, at the University of MD Medical Center surrounded by his wife and five children. He was born on July 1, 1935, to Henry and Eleanor Bowling in Leonardtown, MD. Henry was married to his cherished wife, Betty, for 64 years.

Henry dedicated his life to farming and was a member of St. Maryโ€™s Newport Catholic Church in Charlotte Hall, MD, as well as the Farm Bureau organization. In his leisure time, he enjoyed activities such as golf, fishing, hunting, playing cards, especially pitch, gardening, and baseball.  He liked to watch westerns, baseball, football, and golf on TV.  He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather that loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren.  He would always be at events supporting them, and many fond memories were made with him on the farm, where he was lovingly dubbed Pop Pop.

Henry and Betty were blessed to have five children: Henry (Marion) Bowling III of Faulkner, MD, Debra Amthor of Dentsville, MD, Martin (Sherri) Bowling of Dentsville, MD, Michele Bowling of Mechanicsville, MD, and Lori (Frank) Sinclair of Dentsville, MD. The couple was equally as blessed with eleven wonderful grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Chester Bowling, and two sisters, Martha Gibson and Virginia Thompson.

Henry is survived by his wife, children, his brother Clark Bowling, and his sister Charlotte Smith.

Henry was deeply loved, and his memory will forever remain in our hearts.
