A Lusby family has been displaced after a their home was destroyed in a fire, Monday, April 9. Around 1:50 p.m., firefighters and emergency crews responded to the 800 block of Golden West Way, Lusby for the report of a house fire. Crews arrived on the scene of a 1 & 1/2 story, wood framed home with heavy flames showing on the front of the house. Fifty firefighters led by the Solomons Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department worked to extinguish the blaze and had the scene under control in 10 minutes.
One occupant was hurt with a non-life-threatening injury and two firefighters were injured with minor burns. The overall estimated cost of damage is estimated to be $170,000.ย
Investigation revealed that neighbors noticed a small fire caused by discarded smoking materials extending to the deck of the home. The occupant attempted to extinguish the fire but was unsuccessful.ย The family was displaced and is being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Two firefighters are reported to be injured after battling a house fire that destroyed a Lusby home. The residents of the two-story, single family home were displaced. Authorities are investigating what caused the fire.ย
