LAUREL, Md. – A Hyattsville man was arrested late Monday night after fleeing on foot from a vehicle suspected to be stolen, prompting a police perimeter and aviation response in the Russett area of Anne Arundel County.
At approximately 11:38 p.m. on April 28, 2025, officers were canvassing Russett Green following a report of a stolen silver Infiniti. An officer spotted a vehicle matching the description driving erratically on Sycamore Ridge Road. When the officer attempted to initiate contact, the driver fled from the vehicle on foot.
Anne Arundel County Police quickly established a perimeter. Aviation and K-9 units were deployed to aid in the search. The suspect was located by the Aviation Unit and taken into custody by patrol officers without further incident.
A subsequent search of the individual revealed a small quantity of ecstasy. Officers also recovered a loaded 9mm Glock handgun from inside the vehicle. Police later determined the vehicle in question was not the stolen Infiniti initially reported. That vehicle was later found unoccupied in a nearby parking garage and was impounded by authorities.
The suspect, identified as Donald Bruce Lane, 29, of Hyattsville, faces multiple misdemeanor charges related to illegal firearm possession and controlled substance possession. He was charged with carrying a loaded handgun on his person, having a handgun in a vehicle, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance not cannabis.
Court records show that Lane was released on his own recognizance following his bail hearing on April 29. His case is scheduled for trial on June 18, 2025, at the Annapolis courthouse.
The investigation remains ongoing.
