The Maryland Fire Marshal’s Office seized about $10,000 worth of illegal fireworks Saturday.

The fireworks were stored on a 20 foot by 45 foot barge in anticipation of a display for July 4. The barge was anchored off a residential community known as Patuxent View.

An investigation is continuing to find the individuals responsible for setting up the fireworks.

Fireworks displays are regulated in the State of Maryland by the Office of the State Fire Marshal. Professional fireworks shooters are regulated by the State of Maryland and all displays must be open to the public. Each fireworks site is evaluated and inspected to ensure the safety of not only the fireworks professionals but also the general public.
