Kevin Andrew Shumaker, 65, of Mechanicsville, MD, passed away on July 10, 2026. He was born on June 5, 1961, in Washington, DC, to the late Rosemarie Clements. Kevin grew up in Temple Hills, MD. He went to St. Philip, Bishop McNamara, and graduated from Crossland High School.
For over 30 years, Kevin worked for Local 26 as an electrician. He mentored many in the trade while earning respect for his dedication by his colleagues.
In his free time, Kevin coached his children and the community for over 20 years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and football, going fishing, visiting the beach, and exploring history.
Kevin and Kathy were blessed with three children, including Amber Long (Stevie) from Mechanicsville, MD, Aaron Shumaker (Lauren) from Mechanicsville, MD, and Ashton Gross (Stephen) from Avenue, MD.
Kevin and Tricia joined together both of their families, including her children, Anthony Efantis (Ali) from Crofton, MD, Michael McGowan (Ashley) from Mechanicsville, MD, Danielle Lewis from Annapolis, MD, and Kelly Lewis from Annapolis, MD. Kevin was a wonderful stepfather and helped Tricia raise Danielle and Kelly.
Kevin is preceded in death by his mother, Rosemarie; father, Sam Purll; spouse, Kathy Shumaker; and his brother, William “Billy” Shumaker. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Lewis, along with his/her children, and siblings Frank Shumaker (Susan), and Keith Shumaker (Patti), as well as their grandchildren: Hayden, Camden, Blaize, Ziggy, Waylon, Teddy, Athena, Aurora, Austin, Caleb, Brady, Dylan, and Hudson. He will be missed by many other family members and friends, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, the family will welcome friends for visitation from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Brinsfield Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., located at 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A funeral service will take place the following day, July 23, 2026, at the same location, starting at 11:00 AM, officiated by Deacon Ammon Ripple. Interment will follow the service at Queen of Peace Cemetery, 38888 Dr. Johnson Road, Mechanicsville, MD 20659.
