On August 5, 2026, LaRayne Marie Gallatin, aged 90, from Marlow Heights/Suitland, MD, passed away. She was born on December 23, 1935, in Wisconsin to her late parents, Frank and Eleanor Fixell.
For over eighteen years, LaRayne worked as a bookkeeper for various retail and transportation companies. Her meticulous attention to detail and dedication earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and employers alike.
LaRayne was married to James Gallatin, then later divorced. They were blessed with two daughters, Lynne Hardesty (Robert) of Mechanicsville, MD, and Sandra Thompson of Fredericksburg, VA.
In her free time, she found joy in shopping, particularly on QVC. She also loved dining at Ledo’s Pizza and had a sweet tooth for Wall’s Bakery Chocolate Eclairs. She had a fondness for playing the lottery and watching the horse races at Rosecroft Raceway.
LaRayne was preceded in death by her parents, her ex-husband, and her brother, Loren Fixell. She is survived by her daughters and grandchildren: Michael Emery, Billy Thompson, John Alvarado, Catherine Erxleben, and Lauren Rose. Additionally, she leaves behind thirteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, who have affectionately called her “Yea Yea”.
On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, the family will receive friends for the visitation from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with the service beginning at 11:00 am at Brinsfield Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, Maryland.
