Members of the Leonardtown Raiders High School Football Program took part and excelled in the National Underclassmen Combine (NUC) in Baltimore, Md on 28 April.ย The National Underclassmen Combine puts the athletes through a series of comparative tests such as the 40 Yard Dash, Shuttle Run, Vertical Jump, Broad Jump, Bench Press and football position skills training.
The National Underclassmen Combine is held in over 85 cities around the country and partners with ESPN.com, Rivals.com, and Scout.com where the results of the combine are sent out to every college football program in the country.ย The Leonardtown participants traveled to Baltimore which included over 300 participants from throughout the state of Maryland as well as Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Washington DC.
The Leonardtown Raiders have been preparing for the combine since January working out in the school weightroom four days a week after
school.ย ย The Leonardtown Raiders who excelled and were invited to
participate in the East Coast Regional Combine were 11th graders Stephen Stewart, Corey Dennee, Marcellus Butler, Seth McPherson; 10 graders were Brandon Brock, Jed Law, Zac Deshane, Brandon Dennee, Zac Sparshott and 9th graders were Ryan Bowles, Tyrell Freeman, and Garrett Wallace.
Additional recognition by the Combine Staff for the Leonardtown Raiders were awarded to Brandon Dennee who was selected as “King of the Combine” for the 10th grade division. Brandon Dennee had the highest vertical leap with 30 inches, benched 155 lbs. 18 times, ran a
4.8 second forty yard dash, and had a 9’1″ standing broad jump.
Seth McPherson won the 11th grade Defensive Lineman MVP which included benching 185 pounds 25 times and had over a 20″ vertical.
Ryan Bowles (9th grade) won the Leadership Award.ย He won a scholarship to a recruiting database and earned the award by demonstrating leadership throughout the combine and during the one on ones and showcase.ย He did a great job during the combine.
Jed Law (10th grade) won the 10th grade Lineman MVP for the Big Man Competition.ย Jed law earned this award by having the best totals in the strongman competition and the best technique during the skills session.

A very special congratulations to the players who made the NUC Ultimate 100 Camp. The Ultimate 100 is an invitational only camp where the top performers from the underclassmen combines are invited back to compete against other top regional athletes.ย Created in 2006 as a reward for the top athletes at the underclassmen combines, the Ultimate 100 Camp allows top regional performers from all across the country the opportunity to showcase their talents and skills against other top high school football players while being coached by great veteran coaching staff, including former collegiate stars and former NFL players.ย 50% of the athletes that have come through this event have gone on to D-1 or D-1aa football schools. These players were selected from over 15,000 participants and represent less than 10% of all the players who participated in the combines. Those players selected for the Top 100 Camp are (freshmen) Ryan Bowles, Tyrell Freeman, and Garrett Wallace, (sophomores) Zac Deshane, Brandon Dennee, Jed Law, Brandon Brock, Zac Sparshott, and (juniors) Marcellus Butler, Seth McPherson, Corey Dennee, and Stephen Stewart. Numerous LHS Raiders Football Players are now preparing for a series of College camps that are held throughout June and July all in an effort to prepare for the upcoming season and to provide additional exposure for the players in preparation for possible college athletics.
