MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — Emergency crews are on the scene of a serious crash near Three Notch Road and Persimmon Lane in Mechanicsville.
The crash was reported around 9:27 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, 2026.
Initial dispatch information indicated one person had reportedly been ejected and was not breathing. The vehicle was also reported to be smoking.
Dispatch referenced a possible speed of approximately 100 mph, although that information has not been confirmed by investigators.
When crews arrived, they located the patient in a ditch. The patient was conscious and alert.
Firefighters also began putting water on the vehicle.
A medevac helicopter was requested, and a landing zone was established near the scene along Three Notch Road. MSPAC Trooper 7 arrived and airlifted the patient to UM Capital Region Medical Center.
Motorists should expect traffic delays in the area while emergency crews continue working the scene.
The extent of the patient’s injuries was not immediately available.
