NFL Hall of Fame Game rings in a new season!!!
Hello Sports Fans, Iโm Buddy Long. And THIS is the Monday August 5th edition of Southern Maryland Sports.
NFL:
Whether it be the Sunday Night Football music, the melodic broadcast tones of Al Michaels, or maybe even a little unseasonably cooler weather, it matters not!!! Football is back!!! Starting with the annual NFL Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio, the weekend was started off perfectly with the latest edition of the new class into the Hall of Fame, those including Ravens Offensive Lineman Jonathan Ogden, Curly Culp, Dave Robinson, Larry Allen, Warren Sapp, Bill Parcells, and Cris Carter. As for on field activities, despite Tony Romo, Jason Witten, and Dez Bryant all inactive, the Dallas Cowboys claimed the first pre season win of the season 24-20 over the Miami Dolphins.ย

Donovan, a 5 time Pro Bowler, was part of the back to back championships the team won in 1968 and 69.ย Art Donovan was 89.
Training Camp will continue this week for the Ravens and Redskins with a little bit of heightened urgency. Thursday night will be key for both teams as the Ravens travel to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while the Redskins travel to play the Tennessee Titans.
Baltimore Orioles:
Henry Blanco, the backup catcher for Seattle, hit a 2 run homer in the 7th off of Wei-Yin Chen, helping the Mariners to a 3-2 win over the Orioles Sunday. The loss, Chens 3rd of the season, drops the Oโs to 61-51 on the season. Baltimore drops 2 of 3 to the Mariners, and have now lost 8 of their last 12 since the All Star break.
