Chesapeake Beach, MD – Southern California and Southern Florida met Southern Maryland Thursday night, July 21 as the group Long Run sparkled like the moonlit bay at Chesapeake Beachโs Rock the Dock show. Long Run is an Eagles tribute band. According to Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spaโs entertainment director Murphy Smilardo, โthey are the best Eagles tribute band in the world. These guys have been everywhere.โ
The hundreds who attended the much-anticipated show seemed to agree, as they swayed to both fast and slow-tempo tunes during the groupโs three-hour performance. The Eagles, formed in Los Angeles 45 years ago, have an extensive songbook, augmented by solo tunes by founding members Glenn Frey and Don Henley. Long Run performed as many of them as they could in the relatively short time they had. They even did a cover of the Eaglesโ cover of the James Gangโs โWalk Away.โ
Other tunes performed included Hotel California, Peaceful Easy Feelin,โ Tequila Sunrise and One of These Nights plus Henleyโs early 1980s Grammy winner Dirty Laundry.
The group features Southern Floridians Gary Wayne, Randy Ridenour and Chuck Kirkpatrick, along with Jonathan Washam, John Tillman and Reggie Fecteau. The group was in no hurry to leave Southern Maryland either. Sources reported and were confirmed through social media that the group was booked for a private party Friday, July 22 before hitting the road again.
More tribute performers and real legends are part of the Rock the Dock 2016 season. Coming Thursday, July 28 Satisfaction, a Rolling Stones tribute will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. The following evening, Blood, Sweat and Tears, featuring Bo Bice will play from 6 to 9 p.m. A Rock the Dock perennial, Great Train Robbery, returns Sunday, July 31. Keith Sweat is scheduled for Aug. 3. The following night, itโs Whoโs Bad, a Michael Jackson tribute, performing on the band shell stage from 7 to 9 p.m.
