Hollywood, MD – Tommi Makila describes himself as a local community and political activist. The Democrat, who resides in Accokeek with his wife and son, is seeking the Maryland Senate seat that has been occupied for several terms by Senate President Mike Miller–District 27, which includes portions of Calvert, Charles and Prince George’s counties.
Makila is a native of Finland. When he was a foreign exchange student at a high school in Iowa he met his future wife. He made America his new home and became a U.S. citizen in 2004. Makila and his family moved to Maryland five years later.
Recently, Makila visited TheBayNet.com’s video studios to talk about his quest for the state senate.
