On September 5th, Detective Antonio Malaspina responded to a Charlotte Hall residence following a report of harassment and stalking. Investigation revealed that the woman was being continuously harassed and threatened by her estranged husband. Dennis Martin Evans (age 37 of Charlotte Hall) had been contacting his wife โ€“ who he is now separated from โ€“ and threatening to kill her and members of her family.

Patrol Officers from both the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack began a search for Dennis Evans, who was allegedly armed with a handgun.

The following day, (September 6th) Evans was located at his attorney’s Lexington Park office. When officers entered the building and approached him, Evans punched one officer (Deputy Moritz) in the face with a closed fist. A struggle ensued inside the attorneyโ€™s office, and Evans was eventually subdued by a TASER.

Evans was charged with Stalking, Harassment, Resisting Arrest and Assault. He was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and eventually released.

However, just two days later, on September 8th, Evans was in trouble again. He violated the protective order given to his wife following the initial incident. This time detectives from the Bureau of Criminal Investigations, officers from the Maryland State Police and officers from St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Golden Beach Road area in an attempt to locate Evans.

The officers found Evans and placed him under arrest. But Evans had no more intention of coming quietly than the previous time. Police had to remove him from the vehicle they had placed him in as he attempted to kick out the front windshield.

Evans was removed from the vehicle and placed into the rear of a marked Sheriff’s Office Patrol vehicle, where he then proceeded to kick out the rear window of that car. Officers attempted to remove him from that vehicle and he began kicking them. The officers used pepper spray to gain control of a raging Evans, and place him into custody. According to St. Maryโ€™s Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Evans remained violent and uncooperative throughout the arresting process, and was turned over to the Corrections Officers. He is currently awaiting a bond review.
