Solomons, MD— On March 9, Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Dfc. P. Mosely responded to S. Solomons Island Road, in Solomons for the report of a suspect seen damaging a boat that was occupied by the owner.ย
When Mosely arrived on the scene, the victim advised he was assaulted by Daniel Garris, 27 of Solomons. According to charging documents, “Garris became angry with the victim and punched the victim in the face. Garris then fled the scene.”
Hours later Mosely was dispatched back to S. Solomons Island Road for a destruction of property. When Mosely arrived, he spoke to the victim who said, “Garris cut the lines on his boat. The victim stated that he was sleeping on his boat when he heard someone board the vessel,” according to charging documents. The victim looked outside and saw Garris cutting four dock lines to the victimโs boat.
While Mosely was escorting Garris through the sally port at the jail, ” Garris attempted to pull away from me. I (Mosely) grabbed Garris and told him not to pull away. While walking up to the steps to the entrance door, Garris pulled his arm away from [Mosely’s] grip. Garris turned his body toward Mosely and attempted to charge Mosely,” according to charging documents.ย
Mosely was able to spin Garris toward the door, and push him into the door. At that time, correctional officers opened the door and took custody of Garris.
Garris was arrested and charged with malicious destruction of property less than $1,000, first-degree assault and second-degree assault.ย
Garris has two scheduled court dates. The first date was scheduled for March 16 at the Calvert County District Court. The second court date is scheduled for May 19 and is also at the Calvert County District Court.
