Friendship, MD – Police in Anne Arundel County have identified the motorist killed Monday morning, Jan. 4 in a single-vehicle crash near the Calvert County line. According to a media release, the crash occurred on Friendship Road near Boyds Turn Road. The motorist, who was driving a 2008 Honda Accord, was identified as Brian Earle Galloway, 24 of Churchton.

โ€œWitnesses reported the Honda Accord was traveling westbound on Friendship Road at a very high rate of speed,โ€ the release stated. โ€œThey observed that suddenly the vehicle spun out, crossed the centerline, left the roadway and rolled into the trees. The single occupant/driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.โ€

Anne Arundel Fire Department officials stated Galloway was being transported to a helicopter landing site that was set up at Traceys Elementary School. However, he went into cardiac arrest and died before he could be transported.

Police reported the preliminary cause of the crash was the driverโ€™s failure to remain in a single lane. A contributing circumstance was excessive speed. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The police departmentโ€™s Traffic Safety Section is handling the investigation.


Friendship, MD – According to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, one person was killed following a motor vehicle crash Monday morning, Jan. 4 in the southern portion of the county. A dispatch from the department stated the incident occurred shortly before 7:30 a.m. in the area of Friendship Road and Boyds Turn Road near the Anne Arundel-Calvert County line.

Authorities said an unidentified 25-year-old man was ejected from the vehicle in which he was traveling. โ€œAdditional information provided by Anne Arundel County Police from the scene resulted in a Maryland State Police [MSP] helicopter being alerted to the call,โ€ the dispatch stated. โ€œThe patient went into cardiac arrest before reaching the helicopter site. The patient was declared deceased before the helicopter transport.โ€

The MSP helicopter was due to land at Traceys Elementary School in nearby Traceys Landing when the flight was called off.
