PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A 44-year-old Chesapeake Beach man already facing multiple drug charges is now confronting a new, seven-count criminal indictment that identifies a cocktail of dangerous substances allegedly found in his possession during an April arrest, including two forms of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine and gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB).

The new charges against Nicholas Edward Large were filed by the Calvert County State’s Attorney’s Office on July 23, 2025, stemming from an incident on April 18, 2025. On that date, deputies responded to a report of two subjects sleeping in a car in Dunkirk. Upon making contact, a deputy spotted a syringe on the floorboard where Large was sitting. Large then admitted to having drugs in his pocket. A subsequent search of his person and a backpack located in the passenger area uncovered multiple capsules of suspected fentanyl, an improvised smoking pipe, numerous syringes and a glass vial containing an unknown liquid.

The new indictment specifies the substances found during that arrest, charging Large with possession of para-fluorofentanyl, fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine and GHB, along with related paraphernalia charges.

These charges compound Large’s existing legal troubles, as he is also awaiting trial for a separate incident that occurred on Jan. 20, 2025. In that case, deputies initiated a traffic stop in Owings and observed a butane torch on Large’s lap and a piece of tinfoil under his leg. After he was removed from the vehicle, Large allegedly dropped a metal push rod and admitted to possessing Percocet and Oxycodone. A search uncovered suspected crack cocaine, two smoking devices and multiple pills later identified as Oxycodone.

Nicholas Edward Large faces numerous misdemeanor charges across his multiple cases, including CDS: Possess–Not Cannabis and CDS: Possess Paraphernalia. Each possession charge carries a maximum penalty of up to one year in prison and a $5,000 fine. The trial for his January and April arrests is currently scheduled for Aug. 25, 2025, in Calvert District Court.
