Nobel Ignatius Farrell, 64, a lifelong waterman of Avenue, Maryland, entered into eternal rest on August 5, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on August 1, 1962, in Leonardtown, Maryland, he was the son of Alice Louise Farrell and the late Harry Edward Farrell Sr. From a very young age, Ignatius’s heart belonged to the water. He spent his life mastering the river and becoming a skilled, deeply respected waterman. He dedicated decades of hard work to his trade, earning his living from the water and providing for his family with grit, independence, and pride—a legacy and passion he proudly passed down to his two sons.
A man of immense selflessness, integrity, and quiet wisdom, Ignatius put the needs of others ahead of his own. He loved nothing more than the quiet early mornings and the comfort of his home and family. His deep knowledge of the river, his fierce work ethic, and his gentle, generous guidance will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Sharon Lee Farrell; his loving son and daughter-in-law, Wesley Lee Farrell and Brandi Lynn Farrell; his dear brother and sister-in-law, Harry Edward Farrell Jr. and Stefanie Elanie Farrell; his sister-in-law, Diane Lee Farrell; and a large, cherished extended family including eight nieces, five nephews, eleven great-nieces, and nine great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Edward Farrell Sr.; his beloved son, Jesse Ignatius Farrell; and his brother, Carroll Benjamin Farrell.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., with prayer service at 7:00 p.m., at Brinsfield Funeral Home, 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend David Beaubien on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 21340 Colton Point Road, Avenue, MD 20609. Interment will be private.
