(3-0) Northern -8 @ (1-2) La Plata 6

This game consisted of two offenses who struggled to get going. The first points were scored by Northern when junior quarterback Rex Fleming ran the ball into the end zone. Following the touchdown, senior running back R.J. Dennis rushed across the goal line for the 2-point conversion, making the score 8-0 Northern with 8 minutes 41 seconds left in the game.

Starting the drive from Northern’s 51-yard line, La Plata drove down the field to the 15 where, with no time on the clock, Northern was able to sack the quarterback. That should have been the end of the contest, but a Northern player walked towards the La Plata sideline and began taunting. This act resulted in an unsportsmanlike penalty against the Patriots and a second chance for the Warriors who were able to capitalize. With the score now 8-6, La Plata attempted to run a quarterback sneak for the equalizing 2-point conversion, but the Patriot defense stopped La Plata at the line for no gain.

Northern maintained their perfection on the year, rushing for 189 yards and passing for 49.

The Patriots return home Friday for a 7 p.m. game against winless Great Mills.

(3-0) North Point -34 @ (0-3) Patuxent -8

Patuxent was home against North Point on Friday and was unable to do much on both offense and defense. The Panthers passed for 100 yards and ran for 69. Their only touchdown came from a fourth-quarter pass and catch between seniors Daiyon Gardner and Jalen Bembry. The Panthers gave up 293 yards on the ground and 224 through the air.

Patuxent travels to undefeated St. Charles this week in an attempt to achieve their first victory. That game is set to kickoff at 7 p.m. on Friday.
