Owner Ray Ghods has a passion for flooring and for serving customers. That’s why, after 30 years in the flooring industry, he decided to open his store back in 2005. Another priority is service. “I have a good team of installers and salespeople. We are friendly. They treat customers’ homes as if they were their own. Any problems come straight back to me. It’s peace of mind for me. I do it this way to make my customers happy.”

To keep his staff up to speed, Ray provides regular training. “We have long-time employees with knowledge about the products we carry.  There is daily training.  The installers and salespeople understand if the floor is going to work for you.”

The store offers carpet, tile, wood, vinyl, laminate, area rugs, and more. “If it goes on a floor, we sell it,” Ray says. “We have a massive showroom in Waldorf with 7,000 square feet of ideas. Designers, customers, and builders are welcome to come see what we have. Designers sometimes send their customers to get ideas.”

In addition to flooring, Carpet and Floors Market offers free custom kitchen design and in-house installation professionals. “We have designers available to render your dream kitchen in a 3D program for free.”

One of Ray’s priorities is to bring new and innovative products to his loyal customers. “Right now, one of the most popular products is luxury vinyl. It’s waterproof, durable, and works in every single room. It doesn’t shrink or get dents and it’s totally kid and pet friendly.”  In many cases, it can be installed right over your existing floor.”

Some brands even have Microban protection that prevents mold from developing.

Stain-Proof Carpet Made of Corn

Another product Ray was eager to sing the praises of was carpet fiber made from corn. “It’s extremely durable and has a lifetime warranty for stains, including pet stains.” The durable carpet comes in a variety of colors, patterns, and thicknesses. How durable is it? Ray says the manufacturer-installed it in the rhino habitat at a zoo and left it there for 2 weeks. Then they gave it a regular steam cleaning and all of the stains came out. “It cleans like glass,” Ray said. “This is the stuff we study and go after. We don’t want the low-quality stuff, we want it to last.”

Ray says that type of innovation combined with customer service has brought customers back to the store year after year.
