Shortly after 10:30 p.m. Monday, police encountered a combative suicidal subject after breaking down a hotel room door at Patuxent Inn, formerly Best Western in California.
Police and volunteer rescue squad personnel responded to the hotel on Route 235 for a man who reportedly took a large quantity of pills and locked himself in a room.
Police could not gain entry to the door and requested a fire department to help force entry. Police forced open the room before firefighters arrived.
The man inside was unconscious when police entered and become combative when roused by police.
The man was seen being taken out of the hotel handcuffed, strapped face-down on a stretcher. He was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital via Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad ambulance.
