At 11:15 p.m. March 31, James Alvia Wentz, 28, of Indian Head was driving an ATV in the 4000 block of Doncaster Drive in Indian Head when he lost control of the vehicle and was ejected.
He was later discovered in a ditch by friends who went looking for him after he did not return to the residence they had all been visiting earlier in the evening.
Charles County Sheriff’s Officers and emergency medical services personnel responded to the scene and found Wentz had died of his injuries.
Wentz was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.
According to witnesses, alcohol appears to be a factor. Cpl. S. Burrows of the Traffic Operations Unit is investigating.
