Ritaโ€™s Italian Ice in Dunkirk wasย burglarized early Aug. 29, and detectives are asking the public to help identify the suspect.

The man pictured in the surveillance footage doesnโ€™t match the physical description of a typical criminal. The man is well dressed, driving a nice car, in an outfit more typical of going to church.

Calvert Investigative Team (CIT) Detective Vlad Bortchevsky told The Bay Net on Wednesday that the manโ€™s outfit and getaway vehicle are perplexing, and donโ€™t fit the mold of a burglary. But the look is apparently part of the crime.

โ€œJudging by the video, he does appear to know what heโ€™s doing,โ€ Bortchevsky said. โ€œIt does not appear that this was his first time.โ€

โ€œYou usually donโ€™t see men with hats and ties and suits, driving a high-priced car, breaking into a small Italian ice business,โ€ Det. Bortchevsky said in a telephone interview.

โ€œHe appears to be a regular law-abiding citizen,โ€ the investigator said.

Ritaโ€™s was closed at 5:53 a.m., when the break-in took place. Bortchevsky said the suspect attempted to gain access to the cash register but fled the store unsuccessful โ€“ in a sleek Lincoln Town Car.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 40 to 45 years of age, 6โ€™ tall.ย  He dresses in business attire and wears glasses and a hat.ย
