Solomons, MD – Rain put a major damper on day one of Patuxent River Appreciation Days (PRAD) 2016. However, the most popular component of the annual celebration and exposition was held under clear skies.

Calvert Marine Museum (CMM) is the venue for the celebration, which has been held annually on Columbus Day weekend since for nearly 40 years. The event includes an arts and crafts show—including works by the Calvert Artists’ Guild, free boat rides, live musical entertainment, pony rides and several food vendors.

That major segment, held Sunday afternoon, is the ever-popular parade through Solomons. The Shriners from Baltimore enter several units, as do many local organizations, including the Patuxent High School Marching Band, an area Boy Scout troop, the Calvert Republican Central Committee, Calvert Library and Solomons Island Yacht Club.
