Tables were set for no more than 20 expected attendees at the session today. I was surprised to see so few given the number of people who were invited and who participated in the June Exercise.
As the meeting started we went around the table, introduced ourselves and identified the organization or group we were representing. There were three individuals from Reality Check Plus and nine others (including myself) representing: MVI Services (a professional management services firm with specialized experience in the development and construction and support of medium to large-scale residential, governmental, industrial, and commercial construction projects which is by the way located in Waldorf, Maryland), DACCA, Charles County Planning and Zoning, Calvert County Planning and Zoning, The Calvert County League of Women Voters, The Associate Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations at St. Mary’s College, a Developer who builds in all three counties, and two individuals whom I did not hear where from where they came. My perspective is, “How can this small number and mix of people adequately represent the three southern counties of Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s?”
Statements made by Reality Check Plus Staff:
- 15 Farmers were invited only two participated in the June event.
- They have had luncheons with Developers, Environmentalists and the Governments of all three counties. [Any citizens get invited to lunch?]
- There was a lack of Minorities involved, but not “due to failure to try to include them”.
- They want to ensure this Regional Effort is Regionally Driven.
Some Statistics that will be included in the September 26, 2006, Report (occupying the majority of the summer was by Graduate Students and Reality Check Plus) to be distributed in Baltimore at 10 a.m. (physical presence needed to receive):
