In September 2012, Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. T. Fridman began an investigation of Tony Andrew Messineo, 24 of Huntingtown.ย Messineo is a registered sex offender out of St. Maryโs County who had moved to Calvert County and registered with the Calvert County Sheriffโs Office, as he is required by law to do.

ย Within a few days Messineo had outstanding arrest warrants for Violation of Probation and theft.ย ย He fled Calvert County and was in an unknown state.ย An arrest warrant was obtained on September 19 for failure to notify of an address change.ย Sgt. Fridman made contact with residents at Messineoโs listed home address and discovered that Messineo could possibly be in North Carolina, but what particular town or city was unknown.

Sgt. Fridman made contact with the U.S. Marshals Service and passed on the information to several law enforcement agencies in North Carolina. On Monday, October 9, Sgt. Fridman was contacted by Det. John Lombard of the Rowan County Sheriffโs Office in North Carolina. Det. Lombard stated that his agency had received a call from a local citizen who wanted to report damage to a rental property. The citizen named the suspect as Tony Messineo.ย Det. Lombard recalled that he had received information on Messineo and subsequently contacted Sgt. Fridman, providing the address given by the citizen.

Sgt. Fridman contacted Agent Tom McDaniel, designated US Marshal for Calvert County, and he contacted the US Marshals Service in North Carolina. On October 10, Det. Lombard and several agents from the US Marshals Service located Tony Andrew Messineo at a home in Salisbury, North Carolina and he was arrested without incident.ย Messineo has been charged locally for failing to register in North Carolina and he will be charged federally for interstate sex offender violations.ย He is currently being housed at the Rowan County Detention Center in North Carolina.
