At approximately 1 p.m. on Monday, January 22, a car collided with the side of a van at the intersection of Westbury Blvd and Great Mills Road, in Lexington Park.
One lane was closed to traffic and police directed vehicles around the crumpled car. The heftier van was able to drive away with some damage to its side.
Emergency responders worked at the scene for over half an hour before they were able to extricate a man from the wrecked car by removing the roof with tools known as the Jaws of Life.
The injured man was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
