At 2 a.m. March 30, TFC P. Trossbach of the Leonardtown barrack stopped a vehicle for speeding, 78 mph in a 50 mph zone, on Route 5 at Wood Road in St. Mary’s City.

Upon contact with the occupants an odor of burnt marijuana was detected. The driver was identified as Mark Twain Green, 18, of Lexington Park. The passenger was identified as Joshua Alexander Mason, 22, of Clements.

During conversation with Mason he reached into the front of his pants and retrieved a plastic bag containing marijuana. Mason was placed under arrest.

During conversation with Green an odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. Green was given a preliminary breath test which indicated alcohol in his system.

During a search of the vehicle, incident to arrest, a bag of cocaine was found under the passenger’s seat.

When Green was advised he was being placed under arrest, he started screaming and resisting arrest. Green was charged with Possession of Cocaine, Possession of CDS Paraphernalia and Resisting Arrest.

He was issued a civil citation for an alcohol violation.

Mason was charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia.

Both were taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held pending a bail review.
