LA PLATA, Md. – The Charles County Economic Development Department was recently made aware of an email scam being sent to local businesses. The email in question was delivered with the subject of ‘Help “Save Danny”‘ and appears to be in the form of a GoFundMe campaign sent from a spoofed “MeetCharlesCounty.com” email address.
This email also includes images scraped from the www.meetcharlescounty.com website, and directs people to send money via a PayPal link.
