Self-Serve Kayak And Paddleboard Rentals Now Open At Snow Hill Waterfront Park

MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — A new self-service kayak and stand-up paddleboard rental kiosk is now open at Snow Hill Waterfront Park, giving visitors another way to explore the Patuxent River without needing a reservation.

St. Mary’s County Recreation & Parks announced the opening of the Rent. Fun-powered kiosk, which offers single-person kayaks, tandem kayaks and stand-up paddleboards.

Visitors can rent equipment directly through the Movatic app by scanning the QR code at the kiosk. Paddles and life jackets are included with the rental.

The rental station is located at the park’s kayak launch area on a calm cove with access to the Patuxent River.

According to signage at the kiosk, rentals are priced at $25 for under two hours and $40 for under four hours. Additional day and weekly options are available for GO members.

No advance reservation is required.

Instructions for downloading the app, unlocking equipment and returning rentals are posted at the kiosk.

County officials are also reminding users that life jackets are required and that kayakers and paddleboarders should avoid going out during inclement weather.

Snow Hill Waterfront Park is located at 26582 S. Sandgates Road, Mechanicsville, MD 20659. Visitors looking for the rental station should turn left at the white barn before reaching the playground and beach parking area.

The new kiosk adds another recreational option at the waterfront park as St. Mary’s County continues making improvements to access and amenities at Snow Hill.
