WALDORF, Md. — Maryland State Police are investigating a two‑vehicle crash in Charles County that sent two people, including a child, to area hospitals Monday evening.

Police and emergency personnel responded to the collision around 7:40 p.m., Dec. 8, 2025, on northbound U.S. Route 301, just south of Substation Road in Waldorf.

According to the preliminary investigation, an adult female driving a 2024 Ford Mustang attempted a left turn from the southbound lanes and crossed into the northbound lanes, where her vehicle collided with a 2021 Nissan Rogue operated by another adult female. A 2-year-old female was seated in the left rear passenger seat of the Nissan.

Officials said the child was flown by U.S. Park Police Eagle 1 helicopter to Children’s National Hospital and has since been released. The driver of the Mustang was transported by ground to UM Capital Region Medical Center for treatment.

The Maryland State Police Crash Team continues to investigate.
