LUSBY, Md. — A serious multi-vehicle crash involving a sport utility vehicle and a work truck left multiple people injured and prompted a medevac request Tuesday afternoon in Lusby.

The crash occurred around 1:41 p.m. on northbound Route 4 near the intersection of Solomons Island Road and H.G. Trueman Road.

Initial reports indicated at least three vehicles were involved, including a van and a work truck, with one patient reportedly trapped inside a vehicle. Firefighters arriving on scene performed a door removal to free an injured occupant.

Two patients are being transported to UM Capital Region Medical Center for treatment — one by ground and another by helicopter due to the severity of injuries. A third patient was evaluated on scene and declined further medical treatment.

Northbound Route 4 was shut down at the scene as emergency personnel worked to treat patients and clear the roadway.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
